New financial boost to modernize small transport vehicles to natural gas

The “Gas Track” initiative paves the way for small transporters to overcome financial barriers and upgrade their trucks with new units equipped with engines dedicated to natural gas.

February 28, 2024. The natural gas industry in Colombia remains firmly committed to sustainable mobility, after the innovative initiative supported by ten leading companies affiliated with the Colombian Natural Gas Association (Naturgas), and with a valuable investment that reaches the 760 billion pesos. It is about providing small transporters in the country, owners of up to three trucks, the opportunity to update their vehicles, which currently exceed 20 years of use, to completely new units with engines dedicated to natural gas vehicles (NGV) from the factory.

This financing option aims to democratize access to the modernization of the vehicle fleet, a task that has historically been challenging for small transporters due to the financial barriers they usually face to renew their fleet. Thanks to this alternative, difficulties will be eliminated, offering competitive rates, grace periods, as well as the possibility of financing up to 75% of the total value of the vehicle, and in some cases, up to 100% with additional guarantees.

According to Luz Stella Murgas, President of Naturgas, “this initiative represents a transcendental milestone on the path towards cleaner and more sustainable mobility. “It is a clear example of how the natural gas industry is leading the change towards a cleaner future, while empowering small transporters to join this technological revolution in their trucks.”
