May 25, 2024. Eurogas, the association representing the gaseous fuels sector, officially announces the election of Cristian Signoretto as its new President, following the resignation of Didier Holleaux, effective 24 May.
The newly elected President, Mr Signoretto, is Director of Global Gas and LNG Portfolio and Deputy Chief Operating Officer for Natural Resources at Eni, and has been on Eurogas’ Board of Directors since 2019. During the past sixteen years, which he has spent at Eni, Mr Signoretto has devoted his whole career to the energy and gas sector, serving in various high-level roles both at national and international level. Mr Signoretto brings extensive experience to the Presidency, also leveraging his role as President of Proxigas, the Italian gas industry association, and as member of the Executive Committee of GIIGNL, the International Group of Liquefied Natural Gas Importers.
On his candidacy and election as the new President of Eurogas, Mr Signoretto said “I’m honoured to represent Eurogas as its President for the next two years, a period of utmost importance for the European and global gas industry. This is a pivotal moment for Eurogas to contribute to the overall energy and climate agenda. In fact, thanks to the experience and commitments of its members, Eurogas will play a strategic role in the European debate, by taking necessary action to achieve decarbonisation objectives whilst ensuring the security and affordability of energy sources for European industries and households.”
Former President Holleaux has served as Eurogas president for three years, and has guided the organization through multiple external crises. During Mr Holleaux’s presidency, Eurogas has faced these challenges head on, and even grown in its membership and reputation.
In stepping down, Mr Holleaux expressed his gratitude to the members, staff and partners of Eurogas, and lauded the progress that has been made, stating, “I want to thank everyone who has supported me in accomplishing my duties as I always did what I thought was best for the success, growth and unity of the association. I wish for the gas industry a bright future in Europe and foresee a great ability for gaseous energies to play a role in achieving our climate targets.”
