Nestlé and Transportes Ricardo Concha lead the transition to sustainable LNG transport

Scania Chile marks a new milestone in the country's sustainable transport sector with the addition of three LNG trucks to the Transportes Ricardo Concha fleet.

May 17, 2025. Scania Chile marks a new milestone in the country’s sustainable transport sector with the addition of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks to the Transportes Ricardo Concha fleet, the first to operate for Nestlé in Chile.

With this delivery, Nestlé becomes the only client in Chile with an operational fleet using both Scania LNG and CNG technology, and Transportes Ricardo Concha, one of its main logistics providers, becomes the only carrier operating both Scania solutions in the country.

These new units join the CNG trucks already serving the distribution of Nestlé products. The arrival of these vehicles reinforces Scania’s commitment to leading the transition to a more efficient and low-emission transport system, providing concrete solutions to customers who share the vision of cleaner and more responsible logistics.

“The implementation of these trucks with LNG technology not only represents a significant improvement in the carbon footprint, but also reduces particulate matter and noise emissions, especially in urban areas, which has a positive impact on air quality and the environment. In addition to contributing to sustainability, it also optimizes transportation efficiency, providing a cleaner, quieter, and more effective distribution solution,” said Daniel Martínez, Sales Director of Scania Chile.

Meanwhile, Ricardo Concha, General Manager of Transportes Ricardo Concha, emphasized that “I have been a Scania customer for almost 30 years. I was the first customer to incorporate the Scania PGR technology fleet, making my debut with Nestlé Chile. We currently operate more than 120 Scania trucks. We work with LNG and CNG trucks, with LNG standing out for its greater range. Our routes range from Antofagasta to Chiloé Island, transporting between 28 and 30 tons, with a total weight of 45 tons, complying with current regulations.”

Nicolás Hidalgo, Deputy Manager of LNG, Biofuels, and Green Hydrogen at Lipigas, commented that “the LNG truck offers two major advantages. The first is reducing CO2 emissions by at least 20%. Using diesel eliminates almost all particulate matter, around 96%. It also eliminates sulfur dioxide, providing a solution for the environment. Furthermore, these types of solutions currently contribute to the decarbonization plans of our clients.”
