March 4, 2026. Postobón, Vanti, Ecopetrol, Grecco Motors, and DFAC | Dongfeng have partnered to deliver Colombia’s first beverage delivery truck powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). This vehicle’s technology reduces particulate matter emissions by 99%.
The new unit, developed by DFAC | Dongfeng, is the first in Colombia with this natural gas configuration and is specifically designed for high-performance operation, both urban and intercity.
An average vehicle of this type, intended for urban areas, can travel approximately 30,000 kilometers per year. In this case, the CNG unit entering service today can reduce its CO2 emissions by up to 53% compared to a similar truck powered by diesel or gasoline.
Rodolfo Anaya, President of the Vanti Group, noted that compressed natural gas has been used in Colombia for 26 years and that this truck is designed for this technology, so they expect to increase the number of vehicles on the road. He also cited Bogotá as a specific example, where 2,000 units are typically sold, and the company projects that the majority will run on natural gas.
For his part, Jorge Ricardo Gutiérrez, Vice President of Logistics and Distribution at Postobón, explained that they currently operate approximately 1,836 secondary delivery trucks for their products and that they are the first beverage company to be certified as carbon neutral, with a fleet replacement program using new technologies such as Euro 5 and 6, in addition to this new natural gas vehicle.
“This type of truck is part of our commitment to having vehicles with cleaner technologies and greater profitability in relation to the kilometers traveled and the fuel consumption of our other gasoline or diesel versions,” Gutiérrez added.
