August 16, 2021. ENGIE GNV, a subsidiary of the French energy company, began operations at its second refueling station in Apizaco, Tlaxcala, Mexico.

A year and a half after the opening of its first facility in the port of Veracruz, the company has opted to continue with the expansion and development project of the natural gas vehicle (NGV) filling infrastructure; as well as to continue promoting the massive use of this fuel.

With the entry into operation of the station, the public transport of Tlaxcala will have access to an energy source that emits 80% less polluting gases; in addition to saving up to 50% compared to gasoline and diesel.

ENGIE highlighted that, with the opening of the establishment, in conjunction with financial institutions and vehicle conversion workshops, the first beneficiaries will be public service vans and taxis, as well as corporate and government fleets.

Likewise, the company spokesperson added that the development of the NGV business will allow them to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable transportation, in addition to contributing to the development of a greener economy in favor of consumers, companies and governments.

After the inauguration of its first facility in Veracruz, at the end of 2019, the firm announced that it is part of a development project, and is considering opening more NGV stations in Veracruz and Yucatán, as well as in Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Campeche, Tlaxcala, State of Mexico, Tamaulipas, Puebla, Querétaro and Jalisco, where ENGIE also has natural gas networks.
