Ashok Leyland delivers ten 12 metres ultra low floor CNG buses to Indigo

Ashok Leyland, the fourth largest bus manufacturer in the world, has delivered 10 brand new 12M Ultra Low Floor buses to Indigo (InterGlobe Aviation).

November 6, 2021. Ashok Leyland, the fourth largest bus manufacturer in the world, has delivered 10 brand new 12M Ultra Low Floor buses to Indigo (InterGlobe Aviation). The new compressed natural gas (CNG) powered vehicles will operate at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital of Delhi, India.

Commenting on the occasion, Sanjeev Kumar, Head – Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles, Ashok Leyland, said, “IndiGo has been our long-term valued customer and we are glad that we have delivered consistently to them on the performance of our vehicles. These 12M Ultra Low Floor BS VI CNG buses with automatic transmission and full air suspension are a part of our expanding alternative fuels products range and has been developed by our in-house R&D team who have introduced many industry leading innovations in the mobility space. Talking about the new additions to the airline’s fleet of buses, Indigo issued the following statement, “Ashok Leyland has been our trusted partner for our domestic tarmac buses catering to our mobility needs. The new buses from Ashok Leyland will be used to ferry passengers and crew between the aircraft parked on the tarmac airport and the terminals at Delhi’s international airport. The new low floor buses are powered by Ashok Leyland’s H-Series turbocharged and intercooled six cylinder engine that runs on natural gas and produces 216 bhp. The engine is paired with an automatic gearbox. Ashok Leyland claims that the new BS VI compliant buses deliver improved safety, comfort, and lower the total cost of ownership.
