February 19, 2022. In its fourth year of presence in Mexico, Sitrak has exceeded 800 natural gas-powered truck tractors in the country, with which, adding the various configurations and power sources, there are already more than 1,800 displaced vehicles.
This dynamic will accelerate with the new version of the C7H CNG truck tractor, which will open the portfolio of applications for the Mexican market. “Previously we were focused on 70% of the market, which is the 53-foot dry box, but with this new generation we can incorporate the double or full semi-trailer,” said Ricardo Melesio, General Director of Sitrak Mexico, a company that is part of AT Motors.
“In fact, through our distributor CBS (Comercializadora del Bajío Sitrak) we are incorporating CNG trucks in the vocational segment, both in mining and in the application of mixers,” added Melesio.
For Ramsés Pérez, CEO of CBS, progress in the market with these natural gas units has been achieved since customers have been able to materialize the results of this technology, not only with an efficiency of 40% in the consumption of fuels, but in the 70% reduction in polluting emissions.
From the perspective of managers, the change in the acquisition model has also helped the growth of these vehicles, “with diesel engine trucks the renewal horizon is 3 to 5 years, in the case of natural gas it can be 7 or 9 years, allowing the investment made to be amortized in a better way”, affirmed the Sitrak representative.
