Aceros Arequipa incorporates 28 CNG and 10 LNG trailers in Peru

With this measure, the company ensures the continuity of its logistics operations and reinforces its commitment to sustainability and decarbonization.

October 21, 2025. Corporación Aceros Arequipa (CAASA), a leader in the steel industry, announced the acquisition of 28 compressed natural gas (CNG) and 10 liquefied natural gas (LNG) tow trucks with Euro 6 standards, as well as 74 semi-trailers and 10 articulated cranes, following an investment of S/. 31 million. With this measure, the company ensures the continuity of its logistics operations and reinforces its commitment to sustainability and decarbonization.

On average, each unit will travel 10,000 kilometers per month, accumulating more than 362,000 kilometers overall. This level of operation will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15% and reduce pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. In addition to mitigating the environmental impact, the initiative will contribute to improving air quality, reducing noise pollution, and optimizing fuel consumption.

“Thanks to our energy transition strategy, we continue to renew and expand our fleet with cleaner alternatives. This decision reaffirms our commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of our logistics operations, while strengthening efficiency and productivity for the benefit of our customers,” said Mariana Talavera Rubina, Supply Chain Manager at Aceros Arequipa.

The new fleet will allow for a 5% increase in trip and payload productivity, supported by maintenance contracts that guarantee high availability. Added to this is the advantage of CNG and LNG, a domestic resource that offers more stable costs compared to imported fuels, generating sustainable savings in the long term.
