April 16, 2026. Ashok Leyland has launched compressed natural gas (CNG) and petrol twin fuel variants of its Dost and Dost+ XL light commercial vehicles in India. The models allow seamless switching between CNG and petrol, which the truckmaker said addresses range anxiety among operators who may not always have access to CNG refueling along their routes.
The twin fuel Dost offers a payload capacity of 1,218 kg and a driving range of 400 km, supported by a 120-litre CNG tank and a five-litre petrol backup tank. The Dost+ XL carries a payload of 1,410 kg with a 148-litre CNG tank and five litres of petrol, extending range to 500 km. Pricing starts at INR 820,000 (US$8,820) for the Dost and INR 875,000 (US$9,412) for the Dost+ XL.
Amandeep Singh, President of LCV, IO, Defence and Power Solutions at Ashok Leyland, said: “These vehicles empower operators to drive in the cleaner and greener CNG mode and switch to petrol as a backup fuel when required, ensuring overall lower operating costs and reduced emissions.”
Ashok Leyland said the twin fuel range targets urban and semi-urban logistics operators, last-mile delivery businesses and small enterprises across India.
