May 10, 2022. The incorporation of 15 new Solaris Urbino 12 CNG buses represents the greatest boost to public transport since the renovation plan began in 2020 at Autobuses Urbanos de Valladolid S.A. (AUVASA). The investment of more than 5.6 million euros will seek to modernize the fleet of the Spanish municipal company, which will be completed by 2024 with 57 new vehicles.

The fifteen vehicles are 12 meters long, are powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), and cost €312,900 each. In addition, they have been manufactured in a period of eight months, and will be incorporated into the service in the next few days on the circular line, the second with the highest number of people transported in the AUVASA network, with nearly 2,740,000 trips in 2021.

The new buses have a Cummins CNG 320 CV Euro E standard engine, an automatic VOITH gearbox and four 315-litre gas tanks. These characteristics give it sufficient autonomy for the daily provision of the service with a low level of polluting emissions of NO2 and particles, a reduction in noise pollution and a significant improvement in driving and comfort.

The bodywork of these vehicles has three doors, two for service with double doors, with a capacity of 103 people, of whom 27 can travel seated, with 6 seats reserved for people with reduced mobility, as well as two spaces for wheelchair. The low floor and the lateral tilt functionality contribute to better access to the bus by users, as well as the double automatic ramp and manual access for wheelchairs at the central door.
