Cargo motorcycles with natural gas operation arrive in Colombia

The first cargo motorcycles powered by natural gas arrive in the Caribbean region as a technical and environmental alternative, not only for mass transportation systems, but for the cargo segment.

March 5, 2022. The first cargo motorcycles powered by natural gas vehicles (NGV) arrive in the Caribbean region as a technical and environmental alternative, not only for mass transportation systems, but for the cargo segment that represents more than 60% of the pollution in the country with liquid fuels.

Deinar Agudelo, Manager of Natural Motos (AKT), said that “the company specializes in the conversion of 2 and 3 wheel 0 km vehicles such as motorcycles and motorcars to natural gas in Colombia. We find great value in NGV because it is efficient, economical and clean, generating benefits for society and the environment.”

For its part, Gases del Caribe, placed an uninterrupted supply of NGV as a guarantee for the short, medium and long-term use of vehicles with this fuel. “We have been developing different strategies to stimulate the purchase of these natural gas units in order to contribute to the improvement of air quality throughout the national territory, in addition to reducing fuel costs and developing more competitive industries nationally and internationally”, said Mario Cuello, Deputy Distribution Manager at Gases del Caribe.

In this way, it is expected to contribute to the gas reduction goals of the Paris COP 26 Agreement, given that vehicles dedicated to NGV present reductions of around 30% in greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2.
