April 21, 2024. Shell presented its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) station in the Czech Republic, in Dobšice, at exit 50 of the D11 highway. The truck facility is technologically ready for LNG refueling and, in the future, also for Bio-LNG.
This measure is part of Shell’s commitment to be a reliable partner in the decarbonization of freight transport, in which LNG and Bio-LNG play an important role in the entire energy mix.
This is Shell’s 69th LNG station, connecting the Czech Republic with seven other European countries where the oil company has built an infrastructure of LNG stations.
“Shell’s ambition is to help reduce transport emissions. LNG and Bio-LNG are an important part of this goal,” said Eng. Daniel Vagaský, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shell in the Czech Republic.
“The Czech Republic is committed to mitigating the effects of climate change and contributing to the achievement of carbon neutrality in the EU by 2050. In this regard, the Ministry supports an appropriate energy mix in transport, including LNG, so that Czech transporters have the opportunity to do business sustainably and remain competitive,” said Transport Minister Martin Kupka.
