Cartagena will be the epicenter of the Naturgas 2026 Congress

The event will be held under the slogan "Natural gas, essential for development and human progress".

March 27, 2026. Under the theme “Natural Gas, Essential for Development and Human Progress,” the Naturgas 2026 Congress will bring together key decision-makers, business leaders, energy experts, academics, and government representatives from April 15-17 at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center in Colombia. The event will analyze the sector’s main challenges and discuss solutions that will shape the country’s energy future in a turbulent global context.

The event’s agenda will feature more than 115 national and international speakers and will address key topics such as energy security, sector governance, the legislative agenda, energy transition, infrastructure, development financing, and new sources of natural gas supply.

This year, the congress will take place at a time of heightened global tension in energy markets. Recent tensions in the Middle East, particularly surrounding Iran, have generated volatility in international energy markets, especially for liquefied natural gas (LNG), due to the region’s strategic role in the global hydrocarbon trade and the risks faced by key supply routes. This context has once again placed energy security and the need for reliable and diversified energy sources at the center of international debate.

“Today, the energy debate has moved beyond a purely technical discussion to become a strategic debate about the future of the country. The Naturgas 2026 Congress will be the forum where Colombia can analyze, with industry experts, how to guarantee a reliable energy supply, strengthen the industry’s competitiveness, and ensure that natural gas continues to contribute to the well-being and development of millions of citizens,” stated Luz Stella Murgas, President of Naturgas.

On the other hand, the main panels will focus on key themes such as governance and the state’s vision for this sector, natural gas development in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the energy transition, among other high-level topics like the U.S. Department of Energy’s international conference.

One of the highlights of the Congress will be the live debate with the official presidential candidates, scheduled for April 16 and broadcast on Caracol TV.
