July 21, 2021. Coca-Cola HBC Česko and Slovensko acquired 20 new Škoda Octavia G-Tec cars powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) from ŠKODA AUTO Slovensko. The delivery ceremony was carried out with the participation of the company SPP CNG, which provides fuel for the new fleet.
The number of CNG cars of the manufacturer ŠKODA AUTO in Slovakia already consists of seven Škoda Scala and five VW Caddy Maxi TGI. In the coming months, there will be a gradual replacement of all vehicles. Coca-Cola HBC has up to 150 employees who use them on a daily basis. The delivery is part of the overall fleet replacement in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and includes up to 300 CNG-fueled units and various plug-in hybrids.
“We want to take steps to help stabilize the climate. By 2030, we will reduce our absolute emissions by 55% within the entire company compared to 2017. In cooperation with our partners, this change will help us reduce pollutant emissions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia by 20%,” said Mária Kolarovská, Sales Director for Slovakia at Coca-Cola HBC. “We are very satisfied with the new CNG cars and we believe that it is only the beginning of what we can do for the environment in this area. We are pleased to move to alternative propulsion in the year in which we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the production of the drink in our territory,” she added.
“The economic savings when using vehicles powered by natural gas are 10 to 40% with respect to those that use conventional fuels. This saving lies not only in the favorable long-term price of CNG, which is lower than the value of the gasoline or diesel, but also in a lower consumption, since CNG has up to 130 octane, and in the simplicity of the fuel system. Currently, motorists in Slovakia have access to 16 public filling stations, of which SPP CNG, s.r.o. operates 11 self-service facilities, which sufficiently cover the needs of our partners and customers”, explained Peter Mozolák, CEO of SPP CNG.
“The Škoda Octavia has long been one of the most popular models on the Slovak market, and I am very happy that Coca-Cola has chosen it for their fleet. We are all even more pleased that it is a CNG version model that, thanks to its low emissions, offers environmentally friendly driving. The ŠKODA brand takes reducing emissions very seriously, it is part of its Green Future strategy. That is why we value partners who think of the same way and they use alternative drives within their fleets,” said Jan Procházka, Sales Manager at ŠKODA AUTO Slovensko.
