August 19, 2021. The Colombian Natural Gas Association (Naturgas) reported that companies in the sector reached an agreement to offer discount bonds, whose value starts at 2 million pesos, for the conversion to natural gas of vehicles belonging to corporate fleets across the country.
The units fed with the gaseous fuel contribute to improve the quality of the air, since they reduce the emissions of dioxide and carbon monoxide in approximately 20%, as well as of particulate matter in close to 100%. Another of the great benefits of natural gas is the reduction in operating costs, allowing savings of between 30% and 50% in fuel consumption.
“There are more and more Colombians who choose natural gas for its benefits. 622,000 vehicles have been converted in recent years and on our streets and highways there are more than 3,000 dedicated automobiles that include passenger transport, trucks, tractors and dump trucks”, explained Andrés Sarmiento Grisales, President of Naturgas.
The companies that want to switch their vehicles will have the guarantees for the components of the conversion kit, as well as the calibrations of the conversion system to natural gas. The above, defined within the collaboration agreements between the conversion centers, dealer network and/or manufacturer brands.
Drivers will also be trained, through the conversion center or distributor technical management personnel, on the environmental benefits of gas vehicles, safety conditions, supply and recommendations to maximize fuel performance and autonomy.
