Comgás opens a new CNG station on the border between São Paulo and Curitiba

The main connecting route between São Paulo and Curitiba will have the largest network for natural gas-powered cargo transportation.

August 28, 2021. The expansion plan for the sale of compressed natural gas (CNG) for buses and trucks in Brazil is growing rapidly, and it was in line with this plan that Companhia de Gás de São Paulo (Comgás) inaugurated its new filling station in Taboão da Serra. Thus, the main connecting route between São Paulo and Curitiba will have the largest network for gas-powered cargo transportation.

According to Comgás, the refueling facility for buses and trucks is at Posto Rota 116, at km 16.5 of Rodovia Régis Bittencourt. It has four nozzles with the capacity to supply 200 cubic meters in just 40 minutes. The price per m³ of CNG is R$ 3,179.

The company claims that drivers can also find natural gas for trucks in Colombo (Paraná), just 375 km from the new gas station. Thus, it becomes easier to travel from one capital to another using trucks or buses powered by CNG, because the autonomy of the models varies from 400 km to 500 km.

According to Comgás, in any case, it was already possible to complete the route between São Paulo and Curitiba with CNG trucks and buses. The tests were carried out with a Scania model, which traveled between the two capitals. The vehicle left the city of Paraná with 5 tons, that is, well below its total gross weight limit, which is 54 tons. As a result, Comgás claims that the truck arrived in São Paulo with around 30% of the CNG in reserve. The model has a capacity of 236 m³ of gas.
