Consorcio Express and Vanti inaugurate mega NGV filling station

Consorcio Express, operating company of the Integrated Public Transportation System of Bogotá, and Vanti deliver the Calle 191 mega CNG station of the zonal component of the System.

June 22, 2024. Consorcio Express, operating company of the Integrated Public Transportation System (SITP) of Bogotá, and Vanti deliver the Calle 191 mega compressed natural gas (CNG) station of the zonal component of the System, transportation infrastructure for the operation, Euro VI standard fleet supply and management.

This facility becomes one of the most important for the Integrated Public Transportation System, by serving the low-emission fleet in operation of the SITP for the northern areas of the city, which will allow Consorcio Express to mobilize around 78,000 passengers daily, carrying well-being, quality and low-emission energy to its users. Also, an annual reduction of more than 2,200 tons of CO2 is estimated, 398 tons of nitrogen oxides which, added to the 100% reduction of particulate matter, make this fleet a benchmark in reducing environmental impacts in the northern area of Bogota.

In the 15 years of operation, reductions of more than 335,000 tons of CO2, 5,963 tons of nitrogen oxides and 15 tons of particulate matter are estimated.

Rodolfo Anaya, President of Vanti, stated that “the biggest challenge for Vanti was the adaptation of the operations yard from scratch, but satisfaction with the results is proportional, since this infrastructure will support an operation that will bring significant benefits in air quality and of life to the people of this area of the city; In addition, the natural gas self-generation plant that will be implemented will provide electrical self-sufficiency and a great contribution to the city’s energy transition.”

The Calle 191 station will have electronic management for real-time monitoring of the physical variables and operating conditions of the supply station and safety standards that allow it to be a reference station for this type of intensive operations, with the capacity to supply every night the entire fleet, with an average tanking time of 6-8 minutes per bus and an operation of close to 40 buses per hour.

“This mega CNG service station on Calle 191 represents a technological advance for our fleet and a firm commitment to the health and well-being of our users. This project is an example of how we can combine innovation and environmental responsibility to improve the quality of life in our city,” indicated María Fernanda Ortiz, Manager of Transmilenio S.A.
