January 26, 2023. Firm in its commitment to lead the change towards a sustainable transportation system, Scania Peru marked a milestone in Peruvian transportation by delivering the largest fleet of compressed natural gas units in 2022 and since the launch of its Green Efficiency portfolio in 2018.
It involved 32 Scania G410 6X4 model trucks delivered to Transportes Barcino S.A. of Corporación Aceros Arequipa, which marks the beginning of the transition process of changing the energy matrix in transport.
“For Scania, this delivery symbolizes the beginning of a strategic alliance united by the sustainability commitments that both companies practice and share by being part of the United Nations Global Compact and making responsible business decisions focused on the different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and working together for a sustainable transport that allows a correct and responsible care for the environment,” said Eronildo Barros, Managing Director of Scania Peru.
For his part, Tulio Silgado, General Manager of Aceros Arequipa, pointed out that sustainability is a priority at all levels of the organization and on the Corporation’s agenda, with environmental commitment being one of its main pillars.
“We constantly seek to be more efficient in the consumption of resources, and for this we invest in innovative projects that promote eco-efficiency and the circular economy. In this way, the acquisition of this modern transport fleet allows us to contribute to the care of our environment by betting on the use of cleaner energy, reducing CO2 emissions, as well as being more efficient by reducing our operating costs,” he said.
