Ecopetrol, Promigas and Gases del Caribe deliver the first vehicle financed with GasTrack on the Atlantic Coast

Ecopetrol, Promigas and Gases del Caribe delivered the first vehicle on the Caribbean Coast financed by GasTrack.

October 17, 2024. Ecopetrol, Promigas and Gases del Caribe delivered the first vehicle on the Caribbean Coast financed by GasTrack, the financing fund created by nine companies in the natural gas sector in Colombia with the aim of allowing independent owners of light and heavy-duty transport to acquire units fueled with the gaseous fuel.

The fund has $760 billion that is estimated to benefit more than 2,200 transporters throughout the country.

“At Gases del Caribe we are proud to be part of the delivery of this first vehicle financed with GasTrack. The Caribbean region, with its broad sources of supply and its extensive network of filling stations, offers great potential for numerous transporters to access this financing system,” says Mario Cuello, Deputy manager of Distribution at Gases del Caribe.

For their part, through the fund, independent transporters will be able to access competitive rates, grace periods, as well as the possibility of financing up to 75% of the total value of the vehicle, and in some cases, up to 100% with additional guarantees.

“Through Gastrack, we are promoting the financing of vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). In August and September we delivered the first trucks in Bogotá and Cali, and with this delivery in Barranquilla, we continue to promote the use of CNG vehicles in Colombia, which help reduce CO2 and particulate matter. Ecopetrol is committed to the energy transition through reliable and efficient technology. Our goal is to benefit more than 2,000 truck drivers with this initiative,” explained Álvaro Casanova Calimán, Manager of Gas and LPG at Ecopetrol.

Within the framework of the vehicle fleet modernization program, small transporters who wish to renew their fleet will be able to complement the financing of GasTrack with the disintegration bonus, whose value in 2024 ranges between $81 and $163 million pesos. This financial aid will allow them to access state-of-the-art vehicles, thus promoting lower emissions of pollutants and supporting environmental protection.
