February 14, 2020. Associated with the Swedish manufacturer Volvo, the French construction giant has just established a fleet of 15 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks to ensure the disposal of offal during the construction of the Grand Paris Express.

“In the context of the Grand Paris Express project, the LNG solution offered by Volvo Trucks seemed perfectly suited to our needs and challenges. These innovative vehicles allow us to carry out our missions with the same efficiency as diesel units, while being more environmentally friendly,” says Alain Bertoni, Equipment Director of Eiffage Génie Civil.

These trucks will be used as part of the Grand Paris Express initiative, a gigantic urban project that consists of adding 200 kilometers of additional automatic lines to the Ile-de-France transport network. In particular, in charge of lot 16.1, located between Saint-Ouen and Aulnay-Sous-Bois, Eiffage will use these heavy natural gas vehicles to eliminate offal as part of a multimodal solution that combines road and river transport.

Offered in the Volvo Trucks FH and FM ranges, LNG engines comply with the Euro 6 standard and can offer up to 1,000 km range with a single tank.
