February 3, 2023. The first three biogas buses of the Pays Compiégnois were put into service. An initial fleet that will be progressively completed with other vehicles.

In the French department of Oise, the Pays Compiégnois is accelerating its energy transition. While only running on diester, a vegetable oil-based fuel, units in the area will gradually switch to biogas until now. Supplied by Scania, the first three, two standard and one articulated, have been in circulation for a few days.

“In practice, one of the new 140-seat Bio-NGV buses replaces a 110-seat bus on line 2, which is saturated. Another will increase capacity on line 1, which is in high demand. With this new energy, we will also have less pollution, no smell and half the noise of a diesel, therefore more comfort”, explains Nicolas Leday, Vice President of the agglomeration community of the Compiègne region in charge of transport.

Operated by Transdev Acary, these first three vehicles are recharged at a new station. Installed in the Valadan business park and built by TotalEnergies, it was designed to supply a much larger fleet.

Equipped with 28 slow-charge dispensers, it allows refueling during the night. In addition to the Pays Compiégnois buses, it will also be used to fuel gas coaches in the Hauts-de-France region.
