July 23, 2024. The Minister of the Presidency of the Junta de Castilla y León, Luis Miguel González Gago, and the Mayor of Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero, have presented four new trucks for waste collection, which have entailed an investment of 1,120,562 euros and which will be incorporated into the Municipal Cleaning Service of the city of Pisuerga. The Junta has financed these acquisitions through the General Local Economic Cooperation of 2023 by more than 80%. In this sense, Carnero has valued “the economic cooperation between the autonomous and local administration in order to provide a better service to citizens and improve their quality of life.”
Furthermore, the Mayor of the City has highlighted that “these four trucks allow us to continue updating the fleet of vehicles of the Municipal Cleaning Service of Valladolid, making waste collection more efficient as they are compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, and thus contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions”. The regional funding for the acquisition of this batch of trucks corresponds to one of the lines of subsidies that the Ministry of the Presidency allocates to the municipalities of Castilla y Leon, including those with more than 20,000 inhabitants, which are those that have a greater scope in the powers they manage.
The four vehicles presented are side-loading, have compaction equipment with a capacity of 22 cubic metres, a lift for 2,200 litre containers that is operated from the cabin, 5 vision cameras distributed to facilitate the work of the driver, a 27-tonne chassis, an automatic gearbox and a CNG engine. Thanks to their technical features, these trucks contribute to reducing noise and CO2 emissions, thus being more sustainable from an environmental point of view.
