July 25, 2022. Gas.be, the association that brings together companies dedicated to natural gas in Belgium, has decided to give a boost to the natural gas vehicle sector with the establishment of an unprecedented bonus for the acquisition of heavy duty vehicles that work with compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Valid for all Belgian companies or local authorities that equip their fleet with a new truck that is powered by one of these gaseous fuels, the bonus depends on the gross vehicle weight (GVW) financed. In practice, €2,500 will be needed for units from 3.5 to 12 tons and €5,000 for those over 12 tons.
Likewise, the number of bonuses is limited to 2 per financed entity. To be eligible, the model must have a date from May 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.
From Gas.be they point out that the economic, social and ecological challenges that companies, transport and local public services face today, make it necessary to diversify the fuels used. In this sense, natural gas (CNG/LNG) and especially renewable gas (Bio-CNG/Bio-LNG) are a concrete response to these challenges. For the entity, this phenomenon explains the growing interest in these energy alternatives.
There are currently more than 40,000 LNG-powered trucks in Europe, showing that the technology is already ingrained in the minds of operators. And the refueling infrastructure of more than 4,000 CNG stations and more than 45 LNG stations is constantly expanding.
