September 8, 2021. To support freight transport companies sensitive to environmental problems, Iveco and Engie Solutions propose to finance the additional cost of bioNGV in the equivalent of 600,000 km. This initiative is aimed at the Iveco S-Way vehicles ordered as part of the offer, including the 2XL-Life or 3XL-Life maintenance and repair contracts offered by the company. It will allow carriers to reduce their CO2 emissions by up to 500 tons per unit during the 600,000 km traveled. This offer is reserved for the first 100 Iveco Ways ordered between August 1 and December 31, 2021 to the Iveco network in metropolitan France 1.

Engie is an important player in anaerobic digestion, a process that consists of transforming organic waste into compost on the one hand and biomethane on the other. This biomethane, carbon-free energy produced in the heart of the territories, 100% in France, is injected into gas networks and used to heat homes or as a fuel in the form of bioNGV. In 2020, its incorporation rate was almost 18% of the vehicular gas distributed in France from stations connected to the network. This renewable fuel can reduce CO2 emissions by 95% compared to a diesel vehicle, that is, up to 500 tons of CO2 avoided for a unit that travels 600,000 km.

NGV is the most common alternative energy in the region. It represents 99.9% of non-diesel heavy duty vehicles sold in 2021, with increasing success in road transport, both in France and in Europe. It enables carriers to reduce their environmental impact, while enjoying the same performance as diesel.

The choice of NGV is also the way to access the low emission zones that develop in urban areas thanks to its Crit’Air 1 environmental classification. The noise of a gas vehicle is divided by two, or even by three in compared to a diesel one. Local pollutant emissions are drastically reduced, with fine particles 85% lower than the Euro VI-E3 environmental standard. Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions are also almost completely eliminated.
