June 5, 2021. LIQVIS GmbH and EnviTec Biogas AG have signed a contract for the delivery of bio-LNG. Starting in the third quarter of 2022, EnviTec Bioenergie Güstrow GmbH, a subsidiary of EnviTec Biogas AG, will supply bio-LNG to LIQVIS. The fuel will be produced from autumn 2022 at the Güstrow biogas plant, which was previously used for biomethane production and is now being converted for bio-LNG production. Envitec thus enters the production of advanced biofuels. Bio-LNG will be CO2 neutral and therefore will allow significant additional CO2 savings compared to conventional LNG. LIQVIS will offer bio-LNG at its LNG filling stations in Germany as an alternative fuel for heavy vehicles from October 2022 at the latest, thus taking an important step on the way to further decarbonize heavy vehicle traffic in the country. .
“Because bio-LNG has only been available to a limited extent so far, we will probably not be able to fully meet the needs of our customers. However, we are working to constantly increase the proportion of bio-LNG in our portfolio and to be able to present an attractive offer for its long-term use. If accepted, it would be real progress on the path to decarbonizing heavy goods traffic in Germany,” explains Sebastian Gröblinghoff, Managing Director of LIQVIS GmbH.
LNG trucks, with their low particulate matter and nitrogen oxide values, already easily meet the high environmental requirements of the Euro VI emission standard. Fuel costs for heavy trucks over 18 tons with an annual mileage of at least 100,000 kilometers are significantly lower than for diesel vehicles. Another advantage is that LNG-powered vehicles are exempt from motorway tolls in Germany.
