Mendoza releases twenty 100% CNG sustainable buses

The Governor of the Argentine province of Mendoza, Rodolfo Suárez, presented the new units 100% powered by compressed natural gas (CNG).

December 26, 2022. The Governor of the Argentine province of Mendoza, Rodolfo Suárez, presented the new units 100% powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) that will be incorporated into the fleet of the local transportation system.

The brand new CNG powered buses pollute 50% less and also reduce noise by 50%. In addition, they include specific areas for the disabled, capacity for 31 seated passengers and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Suárez highlighted that “the incorporation of these new units is part of a process that began in 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, with the aim of continuing with Mendoza’s public policies, which have to do with sustainable, environment-friendly transportation.”

The Governor also pointed out: “We have to go to those cities where people do not use the car and use public transportation, and that all sectors of society do.”

During the previous stage of the test in the urban transport system, the Secretary of Public Services of Mendoza, Natalio Mema, highlighted: “They are units that pollute 50% less. The energy factor stands out, since Mendoza and Neuquén are large gas producers to be able to generate CNG consumption in public transport, which is the second activity that consumes the most energy in the country, which is a pending matter in energy and environmental issues”.
