New Holland unveils new biomethane-powered tractor at Agritechnica 2025

This marks another step forward for the brand in supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy through the energy transition.

November 11, 2025. New Holland is presenting the latest evolution of its established T7 tractor line at Agritechnica 2025, held from November 9-15 in Hanover, Germany, reinforcing its leadership in alternative fuels and expanding the brand’s portfolio of sustainable products.

With the launch edition featuring the familiar Blue Power trim, the new T7.270 Methane Power CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) – initially revealed at Agritechnica 2023 – now officially joins the New Holland tractor lineup. This marks another step forward for the brand in supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy through the energy transition.

The model expands the reach of the brand’s alternative fuel technology, offering more power and efficiency to a wider range of producers. The tractor will be launched in Europe in 2026, with plans for expansion into other strategic markets later.

“The tractor addresses the needs of large farms and service providers operating year-round in a variety of applications with high-performance implements. The combination of methane engine technology with the proven capabilities of the T7 line offers a balance of low operating costs, autonomy, reliability, and operator comfort,” says Darragh Mullin, Global Product Manager for the T7 line at New Holland.

The T7 Methane Power tractor can run on biomethane produced from animal waste, promoting sustainability on the farms themselves. In partnership with Bennamann, New Holland enables farms to capture, process, and purify the methane for use as fuel. This closed-loop system reduces emissions, decreases fertilizer use, and can even achieve a negative carbon footprint.

Under the new hood, the model features the proven 6.7-liter, six-cylinder NEF engine, enhanced with a high-performance turbocharger, new electronic mapping, a specific fuel system, and updated aftertreatment. The engine delivers a maximum torque of 1,160 Nm and up to 270 hp, maintaining performance under all conditions. With the new mapping, the T7.270 Methane Power achieves the performance level expected by customers in this power range, with extended maintenance intervals of up to 750 hours.

The New Holland design team optimized onboard gas storage, taking advantage of the new T7’s larger chassis. The standard capacity is 657 liters (117.9 kg), and it can accommodate an additional 480-liter tank (86.2 kg), for a total of 1,106 liters (204.1 kg).

With the additional tank, the tractor offers up to 11 hours of autonomy in transport operations. The NGV2 refueling valve, widely used in road vehicles, withstands pressures up to 260 bar, ensuring rapid refueling comparable to that of a diesel tractor. The model also features an Auto Command™ continuously variable transmission, providing smooth driving and high fuel efficiency.
