NGV Savings Program will serve more than 20,000 users in Peru

The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru, through the Social Energy Inclusion Fund, will provide interest-free financing for three years.

April 15, 2021. The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru, through the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE), will provide interest-free financing -for three years- for 20,000 owners of gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vehicles can access the use of compressed natural gas (CNG), which will allow them an economic saving of more than 50% in fuel consumption.

This initiative will allow the conversion of vehicles through the installation of a complete CNG equipment, and will be initially developed in the regions of Lima, Callao, Ica, Piura, Lambayeque, Junín, Cusco, La Libertad and Áncash, and the goal is to extend it this year to 5 more regions of the country.

The implementation of the NGV Savings Program will be made possible with the entry into force of the “Procedure to Execute the Program for the Promotion of Conversion of Vehicles to NGV with FISE Resources”, which has been made official on April 13 with Vice Ministerial Resolution No. 006-2021-MINEM/VMH, published in El Peruano.

The conversions will be carried out in workshops authorized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which will offer the necessary guarantee and certification to install complete fifth generation or higher CNG conversion equipment, complying with the regulations of the sector.

And for users in the provinces, the program contemplates the allocation of a discount voucher of S/ 1,000, applicable on the final price of the conversion, which will help reduce the value of the beneficiary’s quota and make the monthly payment of this credit viable through natural gas loading at service stations.
