August 17, 2022. The first truck powered by biomethane from pig farming was shown to the Brazilian Minister of Agriculture, Tereza Cristina, during her visit to the municipality of Sorriso, state of Mato Grosso, as part of the launch of the Crop Plan 2021/2022. The innovation is from the pig slaughterhouse Nutribras Alimentos.

Biomethane is a product derived from biogas that is a sustainable fuel and can not only generate electricity, but can also be used to start cars.

In the case of the company, the investment was in a hybrid truck that works with biomethane and also with diesel. But in addition to saving on fuel produced by the industry itself, avoiding increasingly higher prices at gasoline station pumps, since Petrobras has readjusted prices with 11 increases in the country this year alone, it is about clean and high efficiency energy.

The management of pig production effluents goes through the biodigester treatment system, preventing gases, some of them toxic, from being released into the atmosphere, collaborating with the greenhouse effect.

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Tereza Cristina, praised the work carried out by Nutribras and was received with applause by industry workers.
