February 2, 2023. The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM) ratified its commitment to the mass use of natural gas for vehicular use through the NGV Savings program of the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE) that finances car and taxis conversions, up to an amount of S/ 4,000, projecting to reach more than 50,000 benefited users in 2023; for which it will allocate a budget of S/ 400 million.
Likewise, it indicated that it is finishing preparing the procedure to execute the budget of S/ 200 million to finance conversions of vehicles from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to compressed natural gas (CNG).
This voucher will allow the delivery of a discount of S/ 2,000 on the cost of the vehicle conversion service, without charge to return by the beneficiary; being that the rest of the cost will be financed under the regular scheme of the NGV Savings program, that is, financing without initial fee or interest and with repayment within a maximum period of 3 years through CNG refills made by the beneficiary.
The MINEM confirms that conversions to natural gas will contribute to expanding the number of vehicles that use this fuel, allowing them to access an energy source that will provide savings of 50% compared to gasoline or diesel.
