October 9, 2026. Piaggio Commercial France is now listed with UGAP (the French public procurement agency). This listing makes its range of compact commercial vehicles accessible to local authorities, public institutions, and government agencies—including the Porter NP6, which features a dual-fuel gasoline/CNG system.
This is a significant win for Piaggio’s small commercial vehicles, which have now officially joined the list of vehicles featured in the UGAP catalog. While this may sound like a purely administrative detail, it is, in fact, a crucial development for manufacturers. UGAP acts as a central purchasing body for the French state; when a local authority orders a vehicle through this channel, it is exempt from standard public procurement procedures, as UGAP has already handled the competitive bidding process among suppliers. For a medium-sized municipality—which may lack a large, dedicated procurement department—the difference between using an existing UGAP listing and organizing a full-scale public tender from scratch is a major factor in the decision-making process.
The listed range includes the Porter NPE (a 100% electric version) and the Piaggio Porter NP6, which is available in both gasoline/LPG and gasoline/CNG dual-fuel configurations. The natural gas-powered NP6 is equipped with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, Otto-cycle engine that meets Euro 6D-Final standards. It delivers 68 kW (92 hp) and 118 Nm of torque, with the engine positioned at the rear. The setup combines a 45-liter gasoline tank with various CNG cylinder capacities; the “Long Range” versions, for instance, feature two 55-liter tanks. Both versions carry a “Crit’Air 1” environmental rating, granting them access to even the most restrictive low-emission zones—a crucial factor for municipal technical departments that operate daily in city centers. A lineup tailored for technical services
The primary selling point of the Piaggio range lies in the variety of available body configurations: fixed flatbed, tipper, three-way tipper, high-volume box tipper, hook-lift system, refuse collection unit, and front-loading skip loader. This selection aligns precisely with the needs of local authorities, covering areas such as green space maintenance, urban cleaning, technical services, road maintenance, and local logistics.
The Porter features a width of 1.64 meters (with single rear wheels)—a decisive advantage in historic city centers—while offering a payload capacity of up to 1,640 kg (with dual rear wheels).
Furthermore, the vehicles incorporate the driver-assistance systems mandated by the European GSR2 regulation, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traction control, and parking assistance.
