May 17, 2024. This week, the city of Mont-Tremblant launched its first bus line that runs on renewable natural gas (RNG).
Supported by the Government of Quebec and Investissement Québec, the project represents an investment of more than 7 million Canadian dollars. A sum divided between the acquisition of five Nova Bus buses that run on natural gas and the installation of a specific station for their refueling. The latter is connected to the Énergir network, a partner in the project.
“Mont-Tremblant is very proud to see these buses powered by renewable gas, carrying the emblem of our city, circulate on our roads. Each trip made with these vehicles represents another step towards reducing our carbon footprint, thus contributing to more sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility,” commented Dominique Laverdure, Mayor of Mont-Tremblant.
Measuring 12 meters long, the 5 natural gas-powered units delivered by Nova Bus have capacity for 75 passengers, 41 of them seated. Equipped with a 280 horsepower Cummins gasoline engine, they operate with compressed natural gas (CNG) tanks directly integrated into the roof.
