Scania and Poliworld advance sustainable transport in Vaca Muerta with CNG-powered trucks

This experience demonstrates the potential of CNG, even in highly demanding operational environments.

October 28, 2026. Scania continues to solidify the use of natural gas as a sustainable and efficient alternative for heavy-duty transport in Argentina. Poliworld, a company that provides services to major clients—including Tecpetrol in Vaca Muerta—has added 7 CNG-powered trucks from Scania’s “Green Efficiency” line to its existing fleet of 51 vehicles.

The acquisition was facilitated through Feadar, an official Scania dealership in Neuquén. The units are equipped with additional CNG storage tanks (mounted as a “backpack” configuration) to extend their operating range and meet the specific requirements of the operation.

The trucks provide services from Añelo to various Tecpetrol sites: Fortín de Piedra (60 km away), Los Bastos (110 km away), and Los Toldos (180 km away). During well-fracturing operations, the service runs 24 hours a day and can span a period of 20 to 30 days.

This experience demonstrates the potential of CNG, even in highly demanding operational environments. Poliworld reports significant fuel savings, which directly boosts business profitability, while drivers particularly appreciate the smooth ride and lower noise levels of these vehicles.

“Vaca Muerta is growing rapidly, and at Feadar, we are supporting this development by scaling up our workshops in both Cipolletti and Añelo. We are proving that a CNG-powered product can meet the rigorous demands of an operation like this—not only in terms of sustainability but also by offering a clear advantage regarding operating costs,” noted Lucas Graiño, Service Manager at Feadar.

Rogelio Mazzoni, head of Poliworld, stated: “We are evaluating the addition of new CNG-powered units in the medium term. The fast-refueling system available in Añelo allows us to return to operations quickly—a crucial factor for a service like ours.”
