March 1, 2022. Scania sells the first five trucks powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the company Morada Logística and the initial route will be through the interior of São Paulo, Brazil, starting this month.

The trucks, which can be powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) or LNG, are available in 9 and 13 liter versions and have enough autonomy to travel long distances.

This is the automaker’s first truck sale in Brazil and delivery is expected to take place throughout 2022, with activities starting this month on a dedicated route in the interior of São Paulo.

Morada also announced the acquisition of another 25 Scania trucks powered by natural gas and/or biomethane.

The Swedish brand has prepared some combinations of cylinders and tanks, depending on the choice of gas: compressed or liquefied. They vary according to the need for autonomy required by each operation.

Generally speaking, the cylinder options for CNG storage are 760, 852 and 944 litres. While the LNG tanks have a volume of 758 and 1,100 liters.

In early 2019, Morada was the first company to test Scania LNG trucks. Since then, more than 400,000 kilometers have been traveled between the interior of São Paulo and Santos (SP), which helped to validate the equipment.

The model chosen to make up the new fleet of 30 units is the R410 6×2, with a trailer with three separate axles. In addition to natural gas equipment, the company also recently invested in the acquisition of electric trucks, which currently operate in Campinas in fractional load operations.
