Sedigas launches campaign to promote the use of CNG in the decarbonization of transportation

The Spanish Gas Association launched an information campaign with the aim of promoting the transition of vehicles towards compressed natural gas.

June 27, 2024. The Spanish Gas Association (Sedigas) launched an information campaign with the aim of promoting the transition of vehicles towards compressed natural gas (CNG), promoted as an efficient, profitable and sustainable alternative for mobility.

From Sedigas they pointed out that “CNG reduces nitrogen dioxide emissions by up to 85% and carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 25% compared to other fuels.” Likewise, it reduces emissions of suspended particles by almost 100%, contributing to improving air quality, according to the data provided by the entity.

The organization warns that CNG is up to 50% cheaper than other fuels and offers tax benefits, in addition to discounts on tolls and in regulated parking areas in cities.

In this sense, natural gas vehicles obtain the environmental label from the DGT type ECO, which grants tax benefits and priority to circulate in low emission zones (ZBE), existing in all municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. Priority and unrestricted access to this type of urban areas guarantees the continuity of transportation and delivery services.
