May 12, 2025. Tussam, Seville’s urban transport company, is tying the supply of 70 new buses that will renew its fleet to a €35 million investment. Months after putting the tender out to tender, the company, which is part of the Seville City Council (Spain), formalized the distribution of deliveries through several three-year framework agreements signed with Solaris (a subsidiary of CAF), China’s BYD, Italy’s Iveco, and Germany’s Daimler and MAN Truck & Bus.
According to the specifications, the contract is divided into three lots, the third being the largest, with an order for 50 12-meter buses powered by natural gas hybrids. MAN, Solaris, and Iveco successfully competed in this lot, with bids of around €453,000 per unit supplied. The three companies met the same fate with the second lot, which required ten more vehicles with this propulsion system, but longer, 18 meters. For these, the unit price offered rose to €562,000.
The first of the lots, which includes ten 100% electric 12-meter buses, has attracted the most interest from contractors. As many as ten companies responded to the call—BYD, Solaris, Iveco, Daimler, Cordial, Carbus, Irizar, Somauto, Switch, and Tecnove—with the first four successfully signing framework agreements with the Seville-based firm, with bids ranging from €552,000 to €726,000 per bus.
