Tarija NGV program seeks to reach 1,000 conversions in fifth generation vehicles

The Natural Gas Vehicle Program plans to reach 1,000 conversions into fifth-generation vehicles this year in Tarija, Bolivia.

August 22, 2023. The Director of the Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Program, José Navarro, has stated that this initiative under the Autonomous Departmental Government of Tarija, Bolivia, plans to reach 1,000 conversions into fifth-generation vehicles this year.

Likewise, he has indicated that to date coverage of 70% has been achieved, doubling the number of beneficiaries by the 2022 administration, which covered between 30% and 40% in state-of-the-art units.

“When we refer to 5th generation vehicles, we are talking about much more modern units that are changing the fleet and this means that we continue to implement new technology and we can have better transportation in the future.”

In addition, he pointed out that the NGV Program has a budget of 12 million Bolivians for 2023 and plans to increase the amount with a new law that aims to recover the loss from VAT withholding and become a benefit for the plan.

Finally, the Government of Tarija guaranteed the continuity of the Program with the conversions, replacements and requalification of gas vehicles and the maintenance of cylinders and the provision of kits for the public transport sector in the department.
