Tussam invests more than 35 million to renew its fleet with 70 buses

Most of the new vehicles that the transport company has purchased are natural gas-hybrid (60) with lengths ranging between 12 and 18 meters.

January 25, 2025. The Spanish urban transport company of Seville (Tussam), dependent on the City Council of Seville, has tendered the purchase of 70 buses to renew its fleet with an investment of 35.6 million euros. The forecast is that these new units will arrive progressively between the second half of 2026 and the first of 2027.

Tussam moves 77.4 million passengers a year between its bus and tram lines and needs to renew just under half of the more than 400 vehicles with which it offers transport service in the Andalusian capital.

Most of the new vehicles that the transport company has purchased are natural gas-hybrid (60) with lengths ranging between 12 and 18 meters, while the remaining 10 are 100% electric.

The capital’s urban bus fleet is basically made up of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles and, to a lesser extent, diesel, in a proportion of 81% and 19% respectively, according to the company’s 2023 report.

This contract is part of the company’s planned renewal plan and includes three batches of vehicles. The first batch is made up of 10 100% electric 12-metre vehicles, with a maximum amount of 600,000 euros (plus VAT). The second batch is made up of 10 18-metre CNG-Hybrid articulated vehicles, with a unit tender price of 465,000 euros (plus VAT), and the third batch is made up of 50 12-metre CNG-Hybrid buses, with an amount of 375,000 euros (plus VAT).
