July 5, 2025. The Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru, is advancing transport reform by providing operators with conditions for fleet renewal.
Thus, the Nueva Era Señor de Muruhuay transport company added four new buses to its fleet as part of its renewal plan. Thus, it becomes the first in East Lima to have compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, which are less polluting and more efficient; have greater capacity and use an app for fare payment and bus tracking.
“Legal stability has allowed this company to acquire buses for East Lima. Large vehicles didn’t exist in this area, and what we have now are better services and conditions for our public transportation users. This legal stability has also enabled joint work between the operator and the authorities to achieve the change we need,” emphasized David Hernández, Executive President of the ATU, during the inauguration.
These new vehicles, which measure 9.5 meters and have 50% more passenger capacity than the current fleet, are designed to optimize fuel consumption and significantly reduce polluting emissions, contributing to improving air quality in the city and mitigating the impact of transportation on the environment. They also have a built-in GPS system for real-time fleet monitoring.
They also use the Bus APP mobile application to pay fares electronically using a QR code. It also allows users to see the route and location of the bus in real time.
