March 23, 2023. The City Council of Valladolid, Spain, presents 14 new buses that have involved an investment of more than 6 million euros. There are 7 rigid vehicles of 12 meters in length and 7 articulated vehicles of 18 meters, powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and with the ECO environmental label.

The 14 new units that join Autobuses Urbanos de Valladolid S.A. (AUVASA) allow the completion of the renewal process that began in 2015 and which has involved the replacement of a total of 91 buses, 60% of the AUVASA fleet. They are part of the framework agreement signed with the company Solaris Bus Ibérica in 2021 and are powered by CNG, which is a cheaper and environmentally cleaner fuel for vehicle use.

These are 7 rigid buses of 12 meters and 7 articulated buses of 18 meters in length, with the same characteristics as the 30 vehicles that this manufacturer has supplied to AUVASA in the previous year.

The Mayor, Óscar Puente, has affirmed that this is clear proof of the “commitment of the Valladolid City Council with public transport since we assumed the Municipal Government in 2015, which has translated into a total investment of 34.5 million euros. This rejuvenation process allows Valladolid to have a modern, comfortable, safe, accessible and environmentally friendly bus fleet, in line with what citizens demand for a quality service such as that provided by AUVASA.”

These buses, powered by CNG, have a Cummins 320 CV engine in accordance with Euro 6E emission regulations and a CNG loading capacity of 1,260 l. and 1,700 l. respectively. The low levels of polluting emissions give them the ECO environmental label, only below 0 emission vehicles.

The body with 3 doors allows an optimal flow of passengers, reducing loading and unloading times and favoring commercial speed, in addition to having a double ramp (manual and automatic) for wheelchair access, with a capacity of 103 and 135 passengers (for rigid and articulated respectively).
