Taxis Libres and Vanti create a strategic alliance with the objective of converting 100% of the fleet of the associated owners (more than 18,000 vehicles) so that they can function with compressed natural gas (CNG). In addition, drivers who choose to transition to cleaner energy may reap several benefits.
Stefanía Hernández, Manager of Taxis Libres, said that “CNG is one of the cleanest alternative fuels currently available and its use is ideal for the energy transition that we seek as a country.” In addition, she stressed that “in this transition towards an energy system based on renewable technologies, we have also bet on solar energy, by installing solar panels with photovoltaic modules whose main function is the transformation of the sun’s rays into electrical energy. These are located in the Carrera Shopping Center in Bogotá and Cali”.
It should be noted that, of the current fleet of Taxis Libres, only 67% moves with natural gas, which means that the company has reduced CO2 emissions by 88%, contributing to health care by reducing lung and heart diseases.
