September 24, 2023. The Argentine provinces of Córdoba, Mendoza and Tucumán have celebrated the opening of the first compressed natural gas (CNG) supply points for buses and trucks.
With an approximate investment of 300 million pesos, carried out entirely by Ecogas and Andesmar, and in a record time of 10 months, the first CNG station for buses was built in the department of Guaymallén, Mendoza.
This is a unique facility in the country, designed exclusively for public transportation units. With an approximate filling time of 10 minutes, the time in which units must be immobilized for refueling is reduced to less than half. In addition, it is the first natural gas station with high-flow facilities, developed for large vehicles and with exclusive dedication to transport units. The station’s compressor has a loading capacity of 1,500 cubic meters per hour, which means about 50 units per day. Soon, on that same property, the service for private vehicles will also be available.
Likewise, in an event held in the Municipality of Quilino and Villa Quilino, the first high-flow CNG pump in the north of Córdoba for buses and trucks has begun to operate. This achievement represents a historic milestone in the region.
On the other hand, the LUBRE S.A. station of Famaillá in the province of Tucumán, was the first to inaugurate the Green Corridor, a strategic project of YPF S.A. that promotes a more sustainable and efficient fuel. The initiative promotes loading natural gas into heavy vehicles in a much more efficient way, favoring development and production in the north of Argentina.
