Promigas and Surtigas extended an agreement to encourage NGV consumption

Promigas and Surtigas announced the extension of an agreement to encourage the consumption of natural gas for vehicles in the Colombian departments of Bolívar, Sucre and Córdoba.

February 8, 2024. Promigas and Surtigas announced through the Financial Superintendency the extension of an agreement between the companies to encourage the consumption of natural gas for vehicles (NGV) in the Colombian departments of Bolívar, Sucre and Córdoba.

The agreement consists of joint work for the conversion of vehicles from fossil fuels to natural gas. The project has a cost of $779 million and was effective from February 6 to December 31, 2024. “Although this is a small amount for the size of the companies’ operations, it is considered relevant information because it is of related companies,” Promigas said in this regard.

In relation to some company figures, Promigas, led by Juan Manuel Rojas, currently has around 10.5 million users. In addition, it is responsible for transporting 46% of Colombia’s natural gas through 3,289 kilometers of gas pipelines. “We develop and execute renewable energy projects, contributing to the reduction of CO2 with the generation of photovoltaic solar energy to offer our clients more environmentally friendly energy,” they say.

Surtigas, a subsidiary of Promigas, has been in the market for more than 54 years and mainly covers the departments of Bolívar, Córdoba, Sucre, Antioquia and Magdalena, which is why the agreement seeks to encourage the use of NGV in these regions.
