December 16, 2024. The Municipal Transport Company of Madrid (EMT Madrid) will launch the first on-demand bus service that, on a dynamic route, will serve the northwest area of Madrid, specifically in the district of Fuencarral-El Pardo, for the neighborhoods of Pilar, Arroyo del Fresno, Mirasierra, Montecarmelo and Tres Olivos. The launch of this dynamic and flexible route complements the current public transport offer in the area, also offering an important connection with the Fuencarral and Pitis commuter train stations, as well as with the La Vaguada Shopping Center.
The perimeter route of the on-demand bus has been conceived as a flexible route, adapting on each trip to the reservations previously made by users through an innovative technology application.
The vehicles assigned to this on-demand service will be two Breda Vivacity minibuses running on compressed natural gas (CNG), belonging to the EMT Madrid Operations Centre in Sanchinarro. Their service hours cover every day of the week from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The neighbourhoods of Pilar, Arroyo del Fresno, Mirasierra, Montecarmelo and Tres Olivos are areas that have experienced significant population growth in recent years, both in residents and employees who go to new work centres in the Fuencarral-El Pardo district. The implementation of this on-demand bus, integrated into the capital’s public transport network, will be an essential element for mobility in the north-west area of Madrid.
