July 15, 2025. Magma Automotive, importer of DFAC-DONGFENG commercial vehicles to Colombia, presented the new Dongfeng Capitán H GNV tractor unit during the 2025 Mobil Delvac Grand Prix. As its name suggests, this model’s main feature lies in the type of fuel it uses: natural gas. According to the brand, this results in a lower environmental impact, generating up to 99% less particulate matter and 50% fewer CO2 emissions.

Visually, there are no differences with the diesel Capitán H, beyond the presence of tanks capable of storing more than 160 gallons of NGV, located behind the head. Otherwise, it retains familiar design attributes, such as an aerodynamic line, headlights with LED daytime running lights, and 22.5-inch wheels. Added to this are the enormous side mirrors, and the total measures 7.01 meters long, 2.55 meters wide, and 3.80 meters high.

As for its powertrain, the Dongfeng Captain H GNV tractor is powered by a 13.4-liter, inline-six Cummins engine. It complies with Euro VI regulations and, despite the fuel change, delivers similar performance to the diesel version: 551 hp at 1,800 rpm and torque exceeding 2,600 Nm from 1,400 rpm. All of this is managed by an Eaton FastGear automated transmission with 12 forward speeds and two reverse speeds.

This vehicle has a gross vehicle weight of 52 tons and incorporates a robust chassis with rear air suspension and a JOST brand fifth wheel capable of supporting 90 tons. It also stands out for its comfort, as the cabin is configured for a double bunk and features a pneumatically adjustable driver’s seat, an adjustable steering wheel, and an air conditioning system with an independent lithium battery capable of operating for up to 10 hours even with the engine off.
