December 6, 2025. The Monegros LNG-C, Baix Ebre LNG-C, and Gironès Nord LNG filling stations will offer their customers only Bio-LNG and Bio-CNG. In this way, Grupo HAM, a European leader in sustainable energy solutions and a pioneer in the development of natural gas vehicles (LNG and CNG), is taking a historic step in its commitment to decarbonizing transportation: by 2026, all of its service stations will exclusively supply biomethane as fuel for light and heavy vehicles.
The goal of Grupo HAM is to completely replace fossil natural gas with renewable biomethane in its network of service stations, comprised of more than 50 refueling points along major Spanish and European transport routes. This will consolidate its role as a leader in sustainable mobility and the circular economy, driving the creation of a cleaner and more self-sufficient energy model.
The biomethane that will supply Grupo HAM’s service stations will be primarily locally produced. Currently, the company sources biomethane from waste treatment plants in Catalonia and Aragon, as well as from several operational farm slurry treatment plants in the Girona area. Additional plants, currently under construction in various locations across Spain, will be added during 2026.
All of these plants transform organic waste into renewable energy through controlled anaerobic digestion processes, contributing to emissions reduction and the efficient use of local resources.
HAM Group’s management comments: “The use of biomethane in transport is key to reducing CO2 emissions compared to traditional fossil fuels, without the need to modify vehicles or infrastructure. This transition will allow logistics companies, transport fleets, and industrial operators to advance their sustainability strategies immediately, using the same LNG and CNG technology, but with a 100% renewable fuel.”
