Jorge Matamala takes over as head of the Chilean Natural Gas Association

The new Board is completed by Santiago Romero Oneto as first Vice President and Mario Camacho as second Vice President.

April 26, 2026. Jorge Matamala assumed the Chairmanship of the Board of Directors of the Chilean Natural Gas Companies Association (AGN) until 2028. The new Board is completed by Santiago Romero Oneto (CEO of GasAndes) as first Vice President in his capacity as Past President, and Mario Camacho (CEO of GNL Chile) as second Vice President.

Upon assuming his position, Matamala stated: “First and foremost, I would like to highlight the role that AGN has played in recent years, reinforcing the position of natural gas as a fundamental energy source for the Chilean and global energy market, in line with our purpose of promoting a sustainable energy evolution, with low-emission, competitive energy supported by a robust infrastructure that guarantees a secure, continuous, and versatile supply, contributing to Chile’s carbon neutrality.”

The executive emphasized that “today we can affirm that in Chile, natural gas is recognized as a highly competitive, reliable, and versatile energy source with a promising future in the development of new applications, supported by a robust infrastructure, including LNG receiving terminals, pipelines, distribution networks, regasification plants (RSPs), and power generation plants throughout the North, Central, and Southern regions of the country.”

Finally, he expressed his gratitude for the work of outgoing President Santiago Romero Oneto and Executive President Carlos Cortés Simon, who, along with the support of the Doard of Directors and all members, have successfully positioned natural gas as an essential energy source for the energy transition and strengthened the Association’s work.
