October 26, 2026. The Save the Automotive Manifesto was presented at the Pirelli Hall of the Lombardy Regional Council, in Milan, Italy. The meeting, promoted by regional councilor Giulio Gallera, put the reduction of transport emissions and the conditions to achieve it at the center of the debate: availability of technologies, costs for citizens and companies, skills and the future of the automobile supply chain.
Mariarosa Baroni, president of NGV Italia and founder of the Observatory for Technological Neutrality in Transport, illustrated the Manifesto promoted by NGV Italia, UNEM, Federauto and Confartigianato Trasporti. The document calls for the transition to be able to use the different solutions capable of contributing to decarbonization, evaluating their results and applicability in different uses.
“We want to say that you have to be free to choose,” said Baroni. A choice that must be related to the work carried out, the distances and the territory: the needs of urban mobility, freight transport and those who work far from large cities require appropriate responses. In his speech he recalled the contribution of electrification together with biofuels and other technologies, with attention to the economic and social sustainability of the change.
