August 6, 2021. The well-known Swiss ice cream maker Gelati Gasparini offers its products just in time for summer in a more climate-friendly way.

“We chose a vehicle powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and biogas to deliver our merchandise because we care about the environment,” explains Marc Schaller, Director of Gelati Gasparini. With a CNG commercial van, equipped with a CSR cooling system at the rear for safe transport at around -40 degrees Celsius, the company now delivers its production in a much more climate-friendly way. The Iveco Daily is mainly used in the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Baselland and Aargau, on a daily basis. “We will also be using it at events throughout Switzerland, so we should be able to travel about 15,000 kilometers a year,” Schaller calculates.

Positive for the Münchensteiner brand, which has been producing the famous “Zolli-Cornets” since 1954 and ice cream in the typical “Buttermödelis” shape with aluminum packaging since 1960: a CNG vehicle, compared to a diesel or petrol vehicle, does not only emits less CO2, but also has 30% lower operating costs. “Our customers praise us for the fact that we not only focus on profit, but also on the environment and society,” says Schaller. “Our drivers are proud to drive a CNG vehicle and show that, thanks to the 100% biogas load in the tank, the ice cream can also be transported without CO2 emissions.”
