74 Red Corridor buses will be converted to natural gas with the NGV Savings program

The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru, through the NGV Savings program, will finance the conversion to natural gas of 74 buses of the so-called Red Corridor.

December 13, 2021. The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), through the NGV Savings program, will finance the conversion to compressed natural gas (CNG) of 74 buses of the so-called Red Corridor, which crosses Javier Prado avenue and connects the districts of Ate and San Miguel.

The program, which is part of the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE), finances the change of engine from a heavy diesel vehicle for one powered by CNG with Euro V technology or higher, which also ensures greater efficiency in use of the main energy resource of the country.

The General Directorate of Hydrocarbons (DGH) of the MINEM highlighted that NGV Savings is aimed at companies and individuals in the transportation sector who wish to access a more economical and sustainable fuel, which will provide them with greater profitability to their operations.

Similarly, it stressed that the program, which does not include interest or an initial fee, is part of the government’s new policy to massify and intensify the use of natural gas and bring its benefits to more Peruvian families.

With NGV Savings, the MINEM promotes the use of NGV in the transport of passengers, cargo, merchandise, solid waste, among others, at the national level, highlighted the DGH.

The DGH specified that the company Allin Group – Javier Prado S.A.C. (operator of the Red Corridor), through the program, finalized, last November, the conversion of the first eight public transport buses on Route 206, which carry approximately 550 passengers per day and travel approximately 84 kilometers per day.

In a next stage, NGV Savings will finance the conversion of a group of 30 units of the Red Corridor and, later, a fleet of 74 natural gas vehicles will be completed that will allow the company to provide a modern, sustainable and high-quality urban transport service.

The DGH estimates that the fleet of 74 CNG buses, each year, will provide the Allin Group company with savings of more than S/984,000 per year and will transport 13.67 million people.

The repayment of the financing is carried out, easily and progressively, through reduced payments that are added in the NGV recharges. The program contemplates the repayment in a period of five years and grants a grace period of two months to initiate the collection.
